What to do in Saigon: do something different from the other tourists

Is it your first time coming to Saigon? You have in mind some most attractive tourist destinations such as Independence Palace, Notre Dame, War Museum, Ben Thanh Market, ect. and what’s next? You will spend the rest time of your trip walking around district 1, getting lost, walking and getting lost again… So why don’t you spend little time reading these suggestions, you will make the best of your trip.ben-thanh-market If you live in the Western packbacker’s area (Bui Vien – Pham Ngu Lao street), it’s easy to walk to Ben Thanh market, just 5 minutes walking. Here they have lots of sundries but you have to bargain a little bit.
Saigon-Notre-Dame-Basilica Getting out of Ben Thanh market, take another 15 minutes walking and you will get to the Notre Dame, which was built in French colonial structure. And also, there are other French-structured buildings nearby Notre Dame which are Central Post Office and Opera, you can just walk by.
post-office Reunification Palace is at the end of Han Thuyen street, which is from Notre Dame. From Reunification Palace, take two other roads, there will be War Museum. Most of tourists have these places in plan.
War_Museum_-_Saigon Quite far away from these favourite attractions, in district 5, there is China Town which is actually a bunch of markets. They have particular goods in each market, Vietnamese usually come here to buy goods in bulk. It’s good to come, see how a Vietnamese market works and buy some Vietnamese original goods.

Another site to experience Cu Chi Tunnel. It’s in the suburban area – 40 km northwest of Sai Gon but it’s one of most attractive destinations. There are two tunnels, one for tourists (Ben Dinh) and another one is original tunnel (Ben Duoc). You will have chance to crawl through dark – separate tunnels segments. They have nice food stalls at the entrance.
cu-chi-tunnels-16[11] If you prefer peaceful countryside, don’t need to book a tour to Mekong Delta. Saigon has its own beautiful countrysides, you should never skip them. I’m talking about a place in Thao Dien, district 2. It’s a country feel by the river bank with a meadow and nice view of buildings in other side of Saigon river. You can do fishing there and enjoy the time in a windy afternoon.
TheCrescen_ilview Are you surprised because of a little countryside inside a city? But even more, nothing is impossible here: they also have a city inside a city. Let’s go for a walk, you will see a little, clean and quite European city with big shopping malls, buildings and villas beside a beautiful river. Walk over a unique bridge, you are coming to a lovely green park.
